Todd Henderson couldn't face another Christmas in the city with all the boring parties he'd be expected to attend, or with his family telling him he needs to find a woman and settle down, so he escaped to his cabin in the mountains.

Lucy Crider was feeling sorry for herself after being fired from another job and didn't feel up to facing her family, who she was sure would not only give her a hard time about being fired, but also about her lack of a man. She went to hide out at her cousin's cabin over the holidays.

Their paths crossed when her car got stuck in the snow trying to make it up the mountain to the cabin, and he heard someone in distress and went to help. Her anger and bad mood clashed with his desire for calm and quiet, especially the second time he had to rescue the stubborn damsel in distress. Follow their adventures to see if they can find a way to make a quiet Christmas a good Christmas.

Todd Henderson has escaped to the mountains to get way from his mother’s matchmaking efforts. When he goes to help a stuck vehicle, he encounters Lucy Crider, a woman with a hair trigger temper that has just lost another job. Todd sees through Lucy’s bluster to an inner sweetness, to the guilt she feels because of her lack of self control. She needs someone, someone like him who cares enough to take her in hand. A very sweet romance.

This was nicely written but not to my specific, personal tastes. I think this would appeal to readers who like the trope of the "stubborn-woman-does-foolish-things-because-she's-stubborn; gets-spanked-and-sees-the-light". Personally, I get antsy when the heroine is presented as always in the wrong, someone who does really obviously reckless things—and "A Quiet Christmas Alone...Kinda" pivots around a cringe-inducingly foolish escapade on Lucy's part. But this IS very nicely written and the hero is pretty dreamy.

Lucy Crider has left her temper flare again, losing another job and decides to retreat to her cousin’s cabin. Being unprepared for weather conditions, lack of food, getting stuck, improper clothing, and top that off with a stubborn streak and attitude. Todd comes to the rescue, but Lucy continues with the attitude, when she puts her safety and life in danger, she will have to deal with the consequences of her actions. What she needs is a serious attitude adjustment and it looks like she may have just met her match!
