This is really a short story & so might feel a bit rushed. Thus the author does not have word space to go into great details of the undercurrents in this tale & merely mentions them & its left to the readers imagination. Hence the 4* lol. Despite that it was a delightful read in the true spirit of the hols about a period in US history that is not much written about. This has prompted me to look up this author, putting her on my wish list & I will certainly read her other books.

A story of a couple who have secrets but have not yet learned to to trust eachother. It has a nice ending.

A great blend of old time discipline tempered with unwavering love and respect that heals all...a great read.

Learning that love includes truthfulness and trust. This story also shows that true love can overcome any bad mistake.

There is nothing more harmful in a relationship than secrets. They steal the joy and happiness from a couple. When an unscrupulous man shows up and claims he will expose Charles and his friend Edward, Kate gives in and hands over the household money. Now there is no money to pay the bills, buy items for a planned business party, or buy Christmas presents. The guilt is eating at her and has now affected their marriage. When it comes to a head, and she shares what happens, how will Charles react? What hurts you hurts me with a great reminder of the importance of trust and honesty.
