So this was my first book I've read by Cerise. I was not aware there were other books surrounding this world or that this book was part of a series. So in other words, this book can be read as a stand alone since I felt the explanations were enough to have everything in perspective. However, now that I know Marri's Struggle comes before this and Marri's Approach is after, I am definitely going to be reading those 2 as well. Marri was certainly a great character with a lot of depth and layers. You could almost throw this book into a psychology class and practice trying to analyze her. She has a lot of innate urges for companionship but she never had a normal relationship nor witnessed one so she doesn't know how to recognize her needs often and thus find them quit confusing. She is also one of the only characters that I've come across that is very rough around the edges. She truely is an adrenaline junkie and prefers Mission Impossible. Fair warning, Marri is highly sexually charged and she enjoys violence and aggression. She can also easily be seen as promiscuous and while you could make the argument that using sex as a tool to finish a mission makes everything right, she literally perceives the people in the world as sexual objects in most cases and that goes for both sexes. One juxtaposition I found interesting was the combination of punishment while others were also comforting her during punishment. There are certainly a lot of BDSM elements in these stories, bondage, semi rape, harsh whippings, anal play, and even pony play. I'm surprised there's no age play as that has become recently popular! Certainly looking forward to many more of these stories.

This book was fantastic. The continuation of Marri's story has it all: lots of action, sex, and discipline, realistic interaction and depth of characters, and a super interesting plot. I especially loved the new trio of characters and how Marri was surprised by her own growth as a person. I definitely have to read the beginning of the series before they get to Brackish Bay.

I love this series and with every book I am still intrigued with Brackish Bay! Marri has quite a story that kept me turning the pages until the end! If you haven't read this series, you are missing out. It's a wonderful, creative look into a post apocalyptic world. I am looking forward to the next book!

I loved it. This series is realistic. The story lines are good. Characters get moments of happiness not necessarily a happy ever after. I really like Marri. I want her to find happiness. She is really good at what she does. It has been her way of life for a long time. I thought Dinis was a bit hard on her when accusing her of not caring about others. An unfair harsh judgement I thought. She exercised poor judgement rather than not caring. After all, she usually works alone and has been hardened by the cruel and evil people she has come across and worked for. She is not used to looking after innocents. With this story you can't help but get heavily invested emotionally when reading it, it is that good. I can't wait to find out if she succeeds in her next mission, I sure want her to but I imagine there's a good chance she wont.

Once again, we have a story that takes place outside of Brackish Bay, but is moving in that direction. Marri and Dinis were caught between fighting clans, and he was seriously injured, and both are taken in by William the Poet, his lover Amadeus and guardian Katherine. The story takes us on many dangerous twists and turns and missions to keep some towns safe and take out enemies in others. They add five more female soldiers on the way as they are heading to Brackish Bay. The story is full of spankings and punishments, and various sexual encounters including ménage, anal-play, kidnap-capture and rape fantasy. The story is not a sweet romance but is a post-apocalyptic world with cruel and evil people, slavery, and control. The stories are part of a series. The next story will have us at Brackish Bay.
