This is book 2 in the Marquis’ Runaway Miss series. Sophie is a widow. Her husband died in a conflict. She has been trying to care for herself, but she isn't succeeding. She is referred to a Madame and becomes a courtesan in The Nursery. Crispin is the Duke of Cheverell, and is taken with Sophie. He offers her a permanent position in his house as his little girl. I didn't care for the Nanny in this story as she just wanted to get Sophie in trouble and punishment her. I also think that Crispin was a bit of an ass. But, I still liked the story and I give it 4 stars.

An enjoyable read. Sophie is a spirited lass who accepts the role of a concubine. She is a widow who lost her husband during the war. Due to lack of money, she has chosen a future with the only bargaining tool she has - her body. Now, she is kept in the nursery, but she views her life with the acceptance of a mature woman who has been disappointed. As a young woman, she longs for freedom and constantly gets into scrapes for which she is disciplined. I hope that you enjoy reading about Sophie and her escapades as much as I did. I won't spoil the surprise as the book reaches a satisfying conclusion.

Recently widowed Sophie Flynn finds herself as many women did in the Victorian era, poor and without means. She is forced into a life she would not normally choose, one of prostitution. Fortunately for her, Duke Cheverell, finds her first and takes her home to be his concubine alone. He awakens in her something that she had yet to discover in her marriage. Her passion. The Duke soon learns that there is more to Sophie than first meets the eyes. She has learned a lot on her travels with her husband. She has medical training, and she is experienced with horses. Sophie's uniqueness is slowly warming Crispin's cold heart, even though he seems unaware at first and tries to remain aloof. Crispin even seems almost harsh with her at first. However, Sophie falls in love with this hard man and he too is falling in love with her. He is just a little slower to react on his emotions. Very enjoyable tale of romance.

Sophie Flynn finds herself in dire straits in Victorian London after the death of her young husband. With no funds she seeks funds from an unusual source. The Nursery is a refined brothel catering to the elite who have specialised tastes in disciplining age-play roles. At The Nursery Sophie catches the eye of Crispin Sinclair the Duke of Cheverell where he purchases her contract. Installed in his estate, he grooms her to his own tastes. But the nanny has other ideas of discipline and many discoveries are made along the ups and downs of their complicated relationship. This is definitely not a Georgette Heyer type book...it's much more enjoyable!

This book suited me from the very start. It is well written and the tale captivating. I am not a fan of the usual age-play books but Viola Morne's stories always seem to go deeper than that with a good plot and this short book is no exception. I found the tale compelling and I highly recommend this one!

I thoroughly enjoyed this tale of a spirited widow who becomes the concubine of a dominant Duke. Although the Duke of Cheverell thinks of Sophie as his little girl, the age play aspect is minimal in this story. He expects total submission and obedience and Sophie wants nothing more than to please him, but when she gets bored she accidentally finds adventure that spells trouble for her bottom. Sophie is in love with him and submits to his punishments, but her heart aches for him to acknowledge his feelings for her, which his own demons won't allow. She is a great character and throughout the story we learn a bit about her former life. There are totally unexpected twists in the plot that made the book fast-paced and compelling. I highly recommend it.

I enjoyed this new addition to the Marquis’ Runaway Miss series, and this story will read as a standalone. Mrs. Sophie Flynn is a widow and finds herself destitute with little prospects in life until she is referred to visit someone for a unique position and is accepted to work in a private home as a courtesan. This isn’t just a brothel; it is called The Nursery for wealthy men who enjoy certain proclivities. So much comes as a shock to her but at least she has a bed and food for now. Crispin Sinclair, the Duke of Cheverell, a widower, is rather cynical but is also controlling, wicked and lascivious. He isn’t looking for love after his marriage that did give him his two sons. He finds the lovely Sophie at a party at The Nursery and offers her a way out, but it is to be at his beck and call and to live at his estate in his nursery. The plot of the story has some references to an incident that takes place in the first book that changes the way Crispin views his relationship with Sophie; she is there for his pleasure and nothing more under a contract. Their contract is for his use of her body in whichever ways he chooses, and it does not include the heart being involved. There are some mystery, suspense, and surprises that will take place and maybe change the course of events. Sometimes age and life will change how you look at things. Can he give her up to another?

I always enjoy a victorian age-play story, and this one is exceptional! Sophie is a young. penniless widow who is forced to get a job at a brothel. A powerful, handsome, dominant Duke spots her on her first night and takes her home to be his concubine, and live as a little girl - subject to his rules, his punishments and his sexual appetites. Although the Duke introduces her to many new things, Sophie is no fool and has many skills that she acquired during her marriage to a soldier who was stationed in India. Her beauty and her manner are sweet and innocent, but she sees things very clearly and is no fool. She grows to care for the Duke and he for her, but neither of them will admit to their feelings. Will their mutual stubbornness and society's mores mean an end to their relationship? You will not be quite sure until the very end - but what a great ride to get there! Highly recommend!

At first glance this is another historical, spanking, ageplay story which I enjoy reading and was looking forward to reading this one as well. But this story turned out to be so much more. There are many elements common for this genre but there are also lots of surprises and twists in the story. I don't want to give too much away because the surprises are so much fun to discover. But one big difference in this story than others in the Sophie's strength. She is fallen into despite times but she always moves forward with her eyes open and understanding that action have consequences. She has seen and experienced much more than the average woman which makes her unique. She is also shrewd and while she would love to have love she is also smart enough about life to know that sometimes you need to be practical as well. Crispin's character is interesting because he is trying so hard to be the stand-off is gentleman he feels he was raised to be. We are as reader allowed to see his confusion about his own feelings. This was a heartwarming tale that leaves you with enough surprises to make you want to read the story quickly to see what is going to happen next. A very enjoyable reading experience.
